Recap Nov. 11, 2006

WEATHER: A bit chilly by Venice standards – mid-60s and breezy. At least it was better than western Wisconsin, which got 17 inches of snow.

GAME: It went back and forth, with Dark holding on 37-31, when White came up short on its last drive.

MVP: Believe it or not it was me (by vote) and NOT as a quarterback. My shoulder is still sore from being drilled in a tournament a month ago, so I played wideout. I had a slew of catches, including one Marvin Harrison-lite effort along the sideline and a fourth-down pass that went 40 yards for a score. And I knocked down two passes as a rusher. Even Cody was impressed. Patrick was also terrific, with two long TD catches and two picks, while Oren had his best game ever on offense.

BEST T.O. IMPRESSION: Brent was so open on one play – literally 20 yards – that he stopped for a second thinking the play had been whistled dead. After running in for the score, he then lie down and used the ball as a pillow like T.O. Only Brent's not as gay as T.O.

'I WAS AFRAID:' Those were Oren's immortal words on one play where Jeremiah caught a pass and started motoring. As he headed towards Oren, Oren did the wise thing and got out of the way to avoid being run over.

GET THAT MAN SOME HANDS: That describes Jeremiah's receiving day, or lack thereof. Just ask Anthony, his QB. "I don’t like you," Anthony moaned after one drop.

BIG PLAYS: We had three long TDs within 4 plays. Oren got open deep on a fourth down and made a long catch and run; next play for White went deep to Jeremiah for a score (yes, he hung on); and two plays later for Dark, Patrick got even on a bomb from Marino.

BEST HAIR: Sheri loses out this week to Cody's Mohawk.

WELCOME BACK: Nice to see Brian "Puff Daddy" come back after his foot injury this spring. Living up to his nickname, he snuck in a smoke prior to the game.

CURRENT EVENTS: "What a great day Tuesday was!" someone said about the election. "What happened Tuesday?" a player, who shall remain nameless asked. "Are you serious? Don't you read the papers? Don't you watch TV" Jeremiah asked incredulously. "No," came the reply. I think this player did know Bush was president.

NEXT: We are back Saturday Nov. 18, noon.
